Bayswater City draw at Wanneroo

Bayswater City went into the top of he table clash with Wanneroo City full of confidence of taking all three points away from home. Bayswater had to make a late change with Adrian Sutton forced out of the side through injury and was replaced by ex-Wanneroo player Morgan Dendle. The game started off very shaky for Bayswater and Wanneroo threw everything at Bayswater in the opening minutes. Wanneroo were rewarded soon after when they deservedly took the lead. The pressure continued on the Bayswater defense but Bayswater keeper Papalia wasn’t troubled. Bayswater then soon after thought they had equalized through Paul Hickey but his headed goal was ruled offside. Bayswater then settled into their stride and went close just before the half through Todorovic whose shot whizzed past the crossbar. The half time whistle blew and Wanneroo were pleased to be in front at the break. In the second half it was a different story with Bayswater controlling the entire half. The pressure was building on the Wanneroo defense and Bayswater finally made a way through the defense through some great lead up work from Cumace, Kuduzovic and Frisina whose through ball to Hafez was expertly finished from 18 yards. The crowd sensed that Bayswater were on top and continued to attack. Wanneroo were only limited to the odd counter attacked but the defense lead by Tony Cumace held strong. Late in the game Paul Hickey then came very close to netting the winner from a Cumace corner but his header went just wide. In the dying minutes Bayswater looked to snatch the three points when Socratas's cross was headed from Hafez which brought out a magnificent save the Wanneroo keeper to keep the game at 1-1. The full time whistle blew and Bayswater remained in 2nd position.

Bayswater City defeat Rockingham 5-1

Bayswater City kept their unbeaten start of the year intact with a 5-1 defeat of Rockingham City at Frank Drago Reserve. There were very few highlights in the opening twenty minutes as the two sides made a cautious start. After 18 minutes the game finally sparked into life courtesy of a Costa Socratous cross from the left which Ryan Frisina headed powerfully past goalkeeper Craig Olenjik. Bayswater would go on to dominate the remainder of the half and were unlucky not to add a second through Damir Kudozovic who hit the crossbar from distance. With half-time approaching the visitors were reduced to ten men following the contentious dismissal of Michael Vaz for a harsh second yellow card. Tony Cumace rubbed salt into the wound by firing the resulting free-kick into the top corner from 22-metres. Rockingham pulled a goal back on 75 minutes when Ryan Stewart tucked the ball in from 6-metres following a corner by Craig Howard. But the visitors hopes were effectively dashed just six minutes later Adrian Mulholland with Adrian Mulholand’s dismissal for a second bookable offence. This only spurred Bayswater on and in quick succession Frisina and Ahmed Hafez sent the ball past Olenjik as the margin threatened to really blow out. Substitute Scott Campbell rounded off proceedings with a clinical finish after receiving the ball from Socratous.
